Transformasi Perilaku Berlalulintas Siswa SMK Techno Tuban Melalui Pendekatan Edukasi Hukum Yang Partisipatif

Abstract

Pursuant to Law Number 22 of 2009 on Road Traffic and Transportation, a traffic accident is defined as an unexpected and unintentional event occurring on a public road involving a vehicle, with or without other road users, resulting in human casualties and/or property damage. Insufficient legal knowledge and understanding contribute to low levels of legal awareness and compliance among road users, particularly drivers. Moreover, limited awareness of the legal sanctions and fines imposed for traffic violations significantly increases the risk of traffic accidents. Data collected on road traffic accidents indicate that the majority of incidents involve individuals aged 15–27 years, a demographic that predominantly comprises senior high school students, university students, and young adults. This finding suggests a high prevalence of traffic violations and non-compliance among motorcycle riders within this age group, thereby increasing the likelihood of both traffic violations and road accidents. In response to this issue, implementing legal education on traffic law awareness in accordance with Law Number 22 of 2009 on Road Traffic and Transportation is of considerable importance. The community service program targeted students of SMK Technopreneurship Tuban (a vocational senior high school in Tuban Regency). The program aimed to enhance participants' legal knowledge and understanding, thereby fostering greater legal awareness and compliance with traffic regulations while increasing their understanding of the criminal sanctions applicable to traffic violations. Through this initiative, traffic violations and accident risks among student motorcycle riders are expected to be reduced, contributing to improved road safety in the Tuban region.
