Peran Literasi Dalam Meningkatkan Kesejahteraan Masyarakat

Abstract

Community Service Activity entitled "The Role of Literacy in Improving Community Welfare" was conducted in collaboration with members of the Family Welfare Empowerment Organization (PKK) in Sambiroto Village, Padas District, Ngawi Regency. This activity aimed to enhance the knowledge and understanding of PKK members and the local community in Sambiroto Village regarding the significant role of literacy in improving community welfare. Literacy is a fundamental skill that plays a crucial role in improving the quality of life within society. In today's information era, literacy extends beyond the basic ability to read and write. It also encompasses the ability to access, process, evaluate, and utilize information effectively in order to make informed decisions. Literacy contributes significantly to community welfare by influencing various aspects of life, including the economy, health, education, and the environment. Communities with higher levels of literacy generally have better access to information, are more capable of making informed decisions, and possess greater opportunities to improve their quality of life. Conversely, communities with lower literacy levels often face limitations in accessing information, making sound decisions, and enhancing their overall well-being. Therefore, understanding the role of literacy in promoting community welfare is essential. This Community Service Program employed a combination of direct socialization, educational counseling, and interactive discussions with PKK members. These methods were intended to increase participants' understanding of the importance of literacy. Through this integrated approach, it was expected that the residents of Sambiroto Village, Padas District, Ngawi Regency would not only gain theoretical knowledge but also develop practical skills to address various challenges in the fields of education, health, the economy, and the environment. The expected outcomes and impacts of this activity include increasing the knowledge and awareness of PKK members regarding the vital role of literacy in improving community welfare. Furthermore, the program is expected to contribute to the development of prosperous and resilient families, thereby enhancing the overall welfare of the community. In the long term, it is anticipated that this initiative will generate positive and sustainable impacts on community life.
