Pendampingan Terhadap Pengelolaan Tempat Pengolahan Sampah 3R (Reduse, Reuse, Recycle) Di Kelurahan Karangrejo Kabupaten Magetan

Abstract

Community-based waste management through the 3R Waste Processing Facility (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) represents an important strategy for reducing municipal solid waste generation while improving environmental quality. However, the management of 3R Waste Processing Facilities (TPS 3R) continues to face several challenges, including limited institutional capacity, inadequate administrative management, and low community participation in waste segregation at the household level. This Community Service Program aimed to strengthen the capacity of TPS 3R managers in Karangrejo Village, Magetan Regency, through institutional development, human resource capacity building, and operational management assistance. The program employed a participatory mentoring approach, consisting of coordination with stakeholders, problem identification, educational workshops, technical training, field practice, intensive mentoring, and monitoring and evaluation. The primary beneficiaries were the TPS 3R management team, with the active involvement of the Karangrejo Village Government and the local community. The results demonstrated significant improvements in the managers’ knowledge and skills regarding 3R-based waste management, the establishment of an organizational structure and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), improved operational and financial administrative practices, and increased public awareness of the importance of waste segregation at the source. Furthermore, the mentoring program strengthened collaboration among the university, the village government, and the local community, thereby supporting the sustainability of TPS 3R management. The findings indicate that a participatory mentoring approach is effective in enhancing institutional capacity and governance of community-based waste management facilities and has the potential to serve as a replicable model for sustainable community empowerment in waste management.
