This study analyzes the roles of Financial Literacy (FL) and Long-Term Planning (LTP) in transitioning families from a "surviving" to a "thriving" paradigm. Using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR), the research develops a conceptual model to enhance Family Quality of Life (FQL).
The results reveal a paradigmatic dichotomy: the "surviving" paradigm is characterized by reactive management and "present bias," while the "thriving" paradigm reflects proactive resilience and long-term well-being. Findings indicate that Financial Literacy serves as a cognitive foundation to mitigate behavioral biases, while Long-Term Planning acts as a strategic mechanism that predicts financial resilience more effectively than income level alone. Their synergy reduces financial stress, allowing families to reallocate cognitive resources toward self-development and social interaction.
The study concludes that literacy triggers transformation while planning sustains it. Policy recommendations include integrating financial education with professional coaching and developing behaviorally-friendly financial products to support sustainable household resilience.
