The political rights of people with disabilities is a very important and often overlooked issue. According to the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, persons with disabilities have equal rights in terms of political participation. This includes the right to vote, be elected, and take part in public life. Basically, the political rights of people with disabilities include the right to vote and be elected. This means they should have equal access to polling places, and election information should be available in accessible formats. In addition, they must also have the same opportunity to stand for election and have representation in parliament. To address this, further efforts need to be made to ensure that the political rights of people with disabilities are respected and protected. This can be through changes in laws and policies, increased accessibility, and public education about the rights of people with disabilities.
The research method used in this writing is a normative juridical type, this method prioritizes literature study. In collecting legal materials, primary and secondary legal materials collection techniques are used. The collection of primary legal materials is based on the hierarchy of laws and regulations related to the central research issue.
In conclusion, the political rights of persons with disabilities are an integral part of inclusive and participatory democracy. Despite progress in recent years, there are still many challenges that need to be overcome. It is important to recognize and respect the rights of people with disabilities to participate in the political process, including becoming members of parliament. This means ensuring accessibility, both physical and informational, and removing barriers that may exist, such as discrimination and negative stereotypes. Additionally, there needs to be greater efforts to educate and train people with disabilities about the political process and how they can participate. This could involve skills training, education about their rights, and awareness campaigns for the general public
