This study aims to analyze the impact of production costs and selling prices on the income of corn farmers in Dungmiri Village, Karangjati District, Ngawi Regency. Corn is an important agricultural commodity that significantly contributes to the economy of farmers in rural areas. However, high production costs and fluctuating corn prices often hinder the improvement of farmers' welfare. This research employs a quantitative approach with linear regression analysis to examine the relationship between production costs, selling prices, and the income of corn farmers.
Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 50 corn farmers in Dungmiri Village and in-depth interviews to obtain a more comprehensive understanding of the challenges faced by farmers. The results of the study indicate that both production costs and selling prices have a significant impact on the farmers' income. High production costs, especially for raw materials such as fertilizer and seeds, contribute to low profit margins. Additionally, fluctuating selling prices also affect the income received by farmers.
The study also finds that to improve farmers' welfare, more efficient cost management and price stability need to be considered. Therefore, it is recommended to implement policies that support the provision of affordable raw materials, improve access to more stable markets, and adopt agricultural technologies that can reduce production costs. This research contributes to the development of agricultural policies that are more favorable to rural farmers and can serve as a reference for further studies on the sustainability of corn farming.
